GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We would like to thank Katharine Jorgensen for sharing her photograph of the 1st PBA registered doeling. Katharine is the lady responsible for the Pygora breed, as we know it today. She is the founder of the Pygora Breeders Association.
The Pygora is a medium sized fleece goat. The animal is well muscled and the over-all look should be stylish and balanced. The Pygora goat is as long as it is tall. The Pygora goat will be the same length, from the top of the withers to the base of the tail; and the top of the wither to the ground. The underlying skeletal structure should be apparent, well angulated and clearly defined. The female should be graceful and well balanced with athletic movement. The male should be powerful, majestic and should move smoothly. The female average size is 22 inches at the withers; the minimum size is 18 inches at 24 months. The male averages 27 inches at the withers; the minimum size is 23 inches at 30 months. There is no maximum size limit.
